A location is a single, distinct location in the real world. This is primarily used for sorting. In a school district, for example, an elementary, middle school, and high school would be three separate locations. In a university, for example, each location could be a college, such as a "College of Science" for departmental exams.
These terms are used interchangeably. They are the date and room assignments for a test being administered. These are categorized by date, where every applicable student is required to be somewhere in the location on a specific date. For example, a school may have students taking an exam. Once a spreadsheet is set up for the exam, and all students are assigned to a room, this can be set up as a "testing date".
Absolutely not! As long as you have a way for people to enter something ("ID"), and get a response ("Room"), from a Google Sheet, you're good to go. Some examples: a student enters their ID to find their table at prom, or their seat for graduation. A student fills out a form with their ID, and the result sheet can be used to see their responses securely.
As this program relies on a valid Google Sheets spreadsheet, and there are a few requirements. The basic requirements are a column for the room number and a column for the student's ID. You can customize to show additional information, such as a column for the student's name or grade. These will not show up unless a student provides their ID. When you set up a spreadsheet, you will be guided on setting up the proper column.
The amount of customization you can perform is dependent on your license tier.
For single licenses, you can customize the page's title, and description.
For business licenses, you can customize the background color.
For enterprises licenses, you can have full control. However, you must contact us to set up a custom page.
In the URL, you will see a string of characters after the domain name. Each /:slug/ is a unique page. It simply refers to a single path in the URL.
Once you purchase a license, you will be prompted to select a subdomain. For example, "example" in "example.roomlocations.com".
Any locations under this license will be accessible at example.roomlocations.com/:location_slug/.
If you have enterprise, you are able to set up a custom domain, which lets you change the main URL people will go to.
NOTE: Custom Domains are in closed beta and will slowly roll out to everyone once we iron out all the bugs!
If you have enterprise, you will have the option to and you will be guided on how to set up a CNAME record for your domain.
This is set on the license level. If you have multiple licenses, you will need to set up a CNAME record for each license.
NOTE: Custom Domains are in closed beta and will slowly roll out to everyone once we iron out all the bugs!
All licenses must have a subdomain for roomlocations.com, e.g. example
in example.roomlocations.com
.
With a custom domain, you can change it to whatever URL you want.
For example, if you own example.com, and want to start an example location, you can set up a custom domain for rooms.example.com.
This would turn the URL from https://example.roomlocations.com/location to https://rooms.example.com/location.
With this, you can ensure your users are going to your trusted site.
For single and business licenses, the billing period is monthly. The bill date is the day you purchased the license.
For enterprise licenses, we are more than happy to work out a custom billing period. Just reach out and let us know.
For single and business licenses, you will get a 5-day grace period to pay. After that, your license will be frozen. Rooms will still work, but you cannot make any changes. After 9 more days (14 total), your license will be suspended. No one may access your locations until you pay again. After a month of no payment, your slug will be released. For enterprise licenses, due to its flexibility, will be discussed in the contract.
